In the words of the renowned philosopher Dave Matthews, “You gotta try something new every once in a while. [Insert random Dave Matthews gibberish.]”
He’s right. So I am trying something new on the blog and posting the very first of what I hope to be many more interviews I’m calling, “How Did You Get There?”
One of my favorite pastimes is learning people’s stories. My bookshelf will show you that I am fascinated with biographies. If you ever ride in the car with me and listen to music, you will hear plenty of stories behind Beatles and Billy Joel songs that you never cared to know; I love reading how a song came about or where people got their inspiration. I listen to lengthy, in-depth interviews all the time.
I am attempting to do my own interviews of people whose stories I find interesting, and just enjoy talking to.
To begin it all, here is a video I did with my buddy Josh Umar who I thought had a unique upbringing considering his views on life and religion today. I worked with Josh in DC a few years back and we’ve shared many a discussion. I hope you enjoy and learn something.
I realize that it is lengthy and don’t expect you to sit and listen to it all at once, so if you look in the info section below the video, you’ll see I blocked off the segments and their times. You can click on a time and pick back up where you left off, like reading chapters in a book. Or you can jump around to whatever you find interesting. Or you can not watch it at all and be a jerkface. The choice is yours.
